Hamburg Open 2024

January 17 - January 18

hamburg open

HAMBURG OPEN has now firmly established itself in the broadcast and media technology industry as a mixture of industry get-together and trade fair. In 2023, around 170 exhibitors presented their innovations and current industry trends to over 2,000 trade visitors at the Hamburg Messe und Congress exhibition center. A large number of established and new manufacturers of broadcast technology, intercom systems, video mixers, audio mixers, cameras, displays, converters, media technology, post-production technology and many other areas were represented. Users and technicians (e.g. camera operators, event technicians, sound technicians, sound masters and engineers, media technicians, system integrators, lighting designers), including those from private and public broadcasters, will have the opportunity to find out about and exchange information on the latest topics in a relaxed atmosphere and within the comprehensive lecture program.

At HAMBURG OPEN, the networking event for the German-speaking broadcast and media technology industry, all signs point to further growth. For the next edition on 17 and 18 January 2024, the organizers Hamburg Messe und Congress (HMC) and their cooperation partner Studio Hamburg MCI are expecting around 200 exhibiting companies on an even larger area than at the previous event.

The supporting program will focus on artificial intelligence, a currently highly relevant topic. The organizers of HAMBURG OPEN have entered into a program partnership with the FKTG – Fernseh- und Kinotechnische Gesellschaft, one of the oldest and most renowned technology associations in Europe. At HAMBURG OPEN 2024, the FKTG will organize a top-class content block on the topic of AI in the media sector. Representatives from universities will provide an insight into current research, while broadcasters and users from the industry will talk about their experiences of using artificial intelligence in the audiovisual media sector. The program will be rounded off by critical discussions of technical and legal challenges as well as an outlook on future developments.

In addition to the lectures and panels in the HAMBURG OPEN FORUM, visitors can find out about the latest technologies and solutions on the OPEN STAGE and in numerous masterclasses. Another highlight is an exclusive workshop on AI tools for the virtual studio, which HAMBURG OPEN is offering together with the Babelsberg Film University. For initial insights into AI-driven developments for a virtual studio, the workshop will shed light on algorithmic basics and provide an overview of relevant AI tools. In the practical part of the workshop, participants will then have the opportunity to experiment with various AI tools themselves and try out a use case in the context of a virtual studio. “With the masterclasses and the new workshop on AI tools, we want to expand the range of content at HAMBURG OPEN and offer an extended training program for interested industry representatives,” says Maximilian Below, Managing Director of MCI.

In addition to top-class content, HAMBURG OPEN 2024 will focus on the usual informal networking. The spacious networking area in the center of the hall offers the ideal environment for this – as does the get-together on Wednesday evening. “Thanks to the unique combination of an inspiring lecture program, the presence of almost all relevant technology providers in a compact space and the relaxed, informal atmosphere, HAMBURG OPEN has become the most important meeting place for the broadcast and media technology industry in German-speaking countries,” says Daniel Schmitt, Business Unit Director New Brands at Hamburg Messe & Congress.
