Studio equipment specialist Neumann.Berlin announces a feature upgrade for the MT 48 audio interface. The newly introduced Monitor Mission transforms the MT 48 into a configurable monitoring controller, expanding its capabilities and applications, particularly in the mixing and mastering sector.

The Monitor Mission upgrade enables the MT 48 to handle various audio formats, including mono, stereo, 5.1 surround, and immersive audio formats like Dolby Atmos 7.1.4. This enhancement caters to a broader range of professional audio needs.

Key Features of Monitor Mission:

  1. Flexible Bass Management and Alignment Functions: The Monitor Mission includes bass management and alignment functions, allowing users to adjust the frequency and time domain characteristics of loudspeakers to the listening position.
  2. Downmix Feature: This feature enables monitoring of multichannel audio in either mono or stereo, providing flexibility in audio playback.
  3. Versatile Connectivity Options: The MT 48 with Monitor Mission offers an extensive range of connectivity options. It supports various studio monitor connections, including analog and digital options via S/PDIF or ADAT. Multiple connection types can be combined for one speaker group.
  4. Expandable to 7.1.4 Systems: Using the four analog monitor outs and an external ADAT converter, the MT 48 with Monitor Mission can realize systems up to 7.1.4, offering expanded possibilities for immersive audio setups.
  5. AES67 Interface: The built-in AES67 interface allows the connection of professional multi-channel converters, such as the Merging Hapi MKII, and Neumann studio monitors in the AES67 version. This facilitates the realization of a wide range of channels.

Stephan Mauer, Head of Product: “The Monitor Mission turns the MT 48 into an immersive audio interface! This makes the MT 48 virtually unrivaled – with the exception of its sister product, the Merging Anubis, where the Monitor Mission has already proven itself in countless professional setups. Users can therefore be sure that they are getting a perfect solution. In addition, the MT 48’s extended connectivity compared to the Anubis makes immersive solutions even more flexible and affordable for studios of all sizes. With its integrated AES67 support and class compliant USB IO, the MT 48 is the perfect interface for easy integration.”
